When my wife and I started the journey of parenthood, we quickly realized that the "mental load" is real. Between doctor's appointments, feeding schedules, and sleep tracking, the sheer volume of information can be overwhelming.
That's why I built StellarCradle.
🤰 The Motivation: Beyond the Spreadsheet
The idea for StellarCradle was born from our own experiences and the beautiful chaos we saw in other new parents. There’s a constant stream of information: doctor appointments, kick counts, feeding times, and those precious "firsts" that you never want to forget.
Since this project is so personal to us, every feature was designed with the intention of making the journey less about "managing data" and more about "experiencing magic."
As the saying goes: "It takes a village to raise a child." But in our digital age, that village needs a headquarters. StellarCradle is that headquarters.
🎀 The Gender Reveal Milestone
Part of this journey included creating a dedicated digital space for our family and friends. We built an interactive Gender Reveal Website that went live on March 21—the same day we're officially sharing the story of StellarCradle. It featured live predictions, an invite-only RSVP, and a guestbook that became a living keepsake for us. This project was the precursor to StellarCradle, teaching us how much joy a well-designed digital "village" can bring.

The feature we're most proud of is the deep-rooted collaboration. StellarCradle isn't just an app you "share"; it’s a unified experience.
Your Private, Synced Sanctuary
By inviting your partner, you create a private, real-time synced space. Every action taken by one is instantly reflected for the other. This isn't just about sharing a login—it's about building a digital home together.
Real-time Partner Chat
Communication is key during pregnancy and early parenthood. We've built a real-time chat interface specifically for partners, featuring trimester-aware prompts and typing indicators to keep you connected throughout the day.
Mood & Emotional Tracking
Parenthood is an emotional rollercoaster. We've integrated a sophisticated mood tracking system that allows both partners to log how they're feeling. It helps in understanding each other's emotional states and provides a space for empathy and support.
📱 A Growing Ecosystem: From One Bag to a Whole World
StellarCradle actually started with a very simple idea. Since Keicy and I are currently in our "nesting era," we were obsessed with making the perfect Hospital Bag Checklist. We wanted a way to make sure we didn't forget a single essential for the big day.
But as we kept building, something shifted. I found myself more excited than ever to keep adding features—not just to "track" things, but to make the entire pregnancy journey as enjoyable and intuitive as possible for partners. That single checklist quickly expanded into a complete celestial ecosystem:

- The Birth Plan Builder: A comprehensive manager for your delivery preferences. You can even generate a decorated, exportable PDF to share with your hospital staff.
- Hospital Bag 2.0: Our original feature, now expanded with priority badges, live progress tracking, and categorized lists for mom, dad, and baby.
- Family Journey & Circle: Create an intuitive, shareable "Family Circle" where you can selectively share milestones and reports with your "village."
👶 The Baby Ledger (Tracking Everything)
Once the baby arrives, the tracking doesn't stop. We've built intuitive tools for the "daily grind":
- Diaper, Feeding, & Sleeping Logs: Log every change and meal with a single tap.
- Growth Tracking: Monitor weight, height, and head circumference with interactive charts that show your baby's progress over time.
- Generate Detailed Reports: Turn your data into actionable insights. Generate weekly or monthly summaries of your baby's habits to share with pediatricians or just for your own peace of mind.
📖 Visual Memories & Soul
- The Scrapbook: A handmade journal aesthetic for preserving memories with customizable backgrounds and vintage photo frame styles.
- Milestone Journal: Documenting "firsts" (first smile, first step) with media support that auto-populates your scrapbook.
- Bump Time-Lapse: A dedicated interface for weekly belly photos, auto-stitched into a beautiful progress strip.
- Letters to Baby: A space to write timestamped messages to your future child, creating a time-capsule of love.

🧘 Wellness & Delight: Caring for the Caregivers
We often forget that for a baby to thrive, the parents need to thrive too. StellarCradle includes "Wellness" tools specifically for the parents:
- Self-Care Garden: A dynamic SVG flower that blooms petal-by-petal as you complete your own self-care goals (like drinking enough water or taking a 10-minute walk).
- Breathing Bubble: A guided 4-7-8 breathing tool with a pulsing gradient orb to help manage stress in high-pressure moments.
- Bedtime Mode: A global UI toggle that dims the app to a dreamy, starry gradient—perfect for those 3 AM feedings when you don't want a bright screen in your face.
🛠️ The Technical Spark: How it Stays in Sync
Building a collaborative app that feels "instant" was a fun technical challenge. I used Supabase Real-time and PostgreSQL trigger functions to ensure that data fragmentation never happens.
For example, when one parent updates the baby's name or due date, a trigger function automatically propagates that change to the partner's profile. On the frontend, a custom sync hook merges optimistic local updates with the real-time stream, making the app feel incredibly responsive even on slower connections.
🌠 What's Next?
StellarCradle is currently in active development, and we’re constantly adding "Bling Pack" features—delightful micro-interactions like floating star particles and celebratory confetti bursts for every milestone reached.
Our goal is to make StellarCradle the definitive companion for the most important journey of your life. Because while the days are long, the years are short, and every moment in the "cradle" should be stellar.
